The Bronx Zoo has hatched a fairy penguin for the first time in its 120-year history.
Fairy penguins grow rapidly, when it was born, in May, it weighed just 25 grams (about the weight of 5 nickels, or a AA battery) and only 72 hours after hatching weighed almost double, 44.5 grams.
By late July the little guy/girl (The bird is too young to have its sex identified) was big enough to be added to the colony of fairy penguins on display at the zoo. Check out his incredible journey in the video below:
