You’ll soon have a better shot at snagging one of the city’s toughest reservations as the dining scene appears to be gearing up for a bold new chapter–set inside one of its most iconic buildings.
James Beard award-winning chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams, the duo behind some of New York City’s most acclaimed restaurants–think: Via Carota, Buvette, The Commerce Inn, and I Sodi–are opening a new location of their Bar Pisellino inside the landmarked Flatiron Building.
The building is currently undergoing a massive overhaul, being converted from offices into residential condominiums (which are stunning, as you can see here). And soon, Bar Pisellino will add even more buzz to the landmark’s next chapter.
Bar Pisellino opened its doors at 52 Grove St. and Seventh Avenue back in 2019. With both sidewalk seating and standing room at the bar, the breezy, all-day bar was instantly a hit, becoming New Yorkers’ go-to casual spot for espresso and aperitivi.
According to a Flatiron Building spokesperson, the new Bar Pisellino outpost will take over the building’s base, featuring soaring ceilings, restored architectural arches, and outdoor seating, per 6sqft.
According to the outlet, Sodi and Williams stated:
The Flatiron Building’s legacy is such an iconic part of New York, and we are thrilled to be part of it. We cannot wait to bring that spirit to Bar Pisellino.
Construction on Bar Pisellino Flatiron will begin this summer, with a completion date slated for 2027. Once open, the new outpost will mark Sodi and Williams’ first restaurant outside of the West Village.
