National Geographic are bringing the worlds oceans to Times Square in a groundbreaking exhibition using the VFX talents of the team behind Game Of Thrones.
“National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey” will be an immersive adventure through the worlds oceans, from the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific to the California coastline. Stepping through the iconic Nat Geo yellow border you’ll play with sea lions and sting rays, come face-to-face with a magnificent humpback whale, embrace the tentacles of the huge Humboldt squid, and look in the eye of the fearsome great white shark.
In a statement, Declan Moore, National Geographic Partners CEO said:
“National Geographic ENCOUNTER: Ocean Odyssey brings National Geographic’s long-standing belief in the power of storytelling to life in a deeply experiential way […] Audiences will come away entertained and inspired with a greater understanding of the mysteries of the world’s oceans and marvel at the creatures that inhabit them.”
The visual effects team behind “Game of Thrones” and the Martin Scorsese film “Hugo” is harnessing state-of-the-art media and technology for a singular and unforgettable entertainment experience.
The exhibit opens at 226 W. 44th St., between Seventh and Eighth avenues, in the fall of 2017.
