There’s nothing worse than saving up for months, submitting your PTO, and stepping off the plane in your dream vacation destination to cloudy skies and endless rain. Sometimes it’s enough to make it feel like your entire trip is ruined and was a waste of money…but now it won’t have to be!
JetBlue recently announced its partnership with WeatherPromise, which will help travelers safeguard their trips against one of the most common vacation concerns: excessive rain. So, if Mother Nature decides to rain on your parade, you’ll end up with some extra money in your pocket! Here’s what you need to know:
What is JetBlue’s rain protection?
According to a press release, JetBlue and WeatherPromise’s rain protection is a first-of-its-kind coverage that allows customers to be reimbursed if they experience excessive rainfall on their getaway.
What is considered “excessive rain?”
WeatherPromise determines “excessive rain” based on destination, trip length, and historical weather data. Millions of data points are assessed for each trip, and weather conditions are continually monitored using satellite imagery, weather stations, and radar to ensure an accurate, real-time evaluation at the travel destination.
How do I get my money back with WeatherPromise rain protection?
If the amount of rainfall during your vacation meets the qualifying threshold, customers are automatically reimbursed—no paperwork needed.
Does my vacation get canceled if I get reimbursed with rain protection?
Nope! Even if you receive money back you’ll still get to enjoy (albeit wet) your trip.
Who qualifies for JetBlue’s WeatherPromise rain protection?
JetBlue customers booking eligible Flight + Hotel vacation packages can receive protection for all trip components, including car rentals and activities, when reserved through JetBlue Vacations at the time of purchase. The protection only covers flights departing from airports within the U.S. or U.S. territories.
How do I unlock WeatherPromise rain protection?
JetBlue’s WeatherPromise protection must be purchased. According to their website, you can purchase it one the following ways:
- On the confirmation page of your flight + hotel package
- In your flight + hotel package confirmation email
- Within the “Manage Your Booking” section for a flight + hotel package
Jamie Perry, President at JetBlue Travel Products, stated:
Travel should be exciting, not stressful…When customers book through JetBlue Vacations, they’re choosing a travel brand they trust to support them every step of the way. We know how important vacations are, and by offering coverage against weather disruptions, we’re ensuring our customers can focus on enjoying their trips with confidence and peace of mind.
Weather Promise rain protection is just one of the ways JetBlue is making travel more enjoyable for its customers–not too long ago the airline implemented a family seating guarantee.
