The upstate bar which claims to have invented the Buffalo wing is now opening it’s very first NYC location.
Anchor Bar, a Buffalo-based restaurant chain, will open in Hell’s Kitchen at the end of next week (on May 17). The original bar opened in 1935 and has continued to expand since, with this location being its 11th. However, Anchor Bar claims it was their original owner Teressa Bellissimo that invented Buffalo wings in 1964 when she served her son’s friends fried wings with a secret sauce. The rest, as some would say, is history.
The new 3,840 square-foot space at 327 W 57 St will offer their signature wings along with other traditional pub fare.
