The Upper East Side is an area known for its extravagance, cozy restaurants, Museum Mile beloved by many, and more. And now a brand new Upper East Side affordable housing lottery is making it possible to live a life of luxury in this affluent neighborhood without having to sell your soul.
Dubbed The Delecor at 250 East 83rd Street, this luxury rental is a modern take on Manhattan’s many Art Deco buildings. The latest housing gem is comprised of 33 mixed-income apartments ranging from studios to two-bedrooms, and New Yorkers making an income between $33,875 and $218,010 are eligible.
Standing 31 stories, the pre-war-inspired building includes 25,000 square feet of residential amenities, including but not limited to:
- Bike storage lockers
- Shared laundry room
- Gymnasium
- Spa
- Yoga/dance studio
- Pool
- Media room
- Children’s playroom
- Rooftop terrace
The apartments themselves feature modern kitchens, dishwashers, smart climate controls, and high-speed internet. Of the available units 8 are studios starting at $914, 8 are one bedrooms starting at $974, and 17 are two bedrooms starting at $1,161.
And considering that less than 5% of NYC rents are affordable to residents making the city’s average salary and NYC rents are rising 7x faster than wages, applying to this lottery is essentially a no brainer.
Interested residents have until February 10th, 2025 to apply to the Upper East Side affordable housing lottery, which is conveniently located near the 4, 5, 6, and Q subway lines and the M15 bus. The lottery doesn’t require deposits or application fees and, in addition to rent, selected tenants will be responsible for electricity only.
20% of the building’s units are preferred to go to Brooklyn Community Board 8 residents, 5% of the units are preferred for NYC employees, while 2% is for vision/hearing and 5% for mobility. Apply here.
