Burrata has recently taken the world by storm, being featured on almost every foodie’s TikTok page, and it’s almost impossible to head to a restaurant lately without finding some version of this cheesy dish on the menu.
Burrata is no stranger to Union Square’s Unregular Pizza–it’s the main focal point of their signature “Burrapizzas”–but now they’re taking this dish one step further!
Perfect for the spooky season, Unregular Pizza is officially serving a “Halloween Burrapumpkin,” and it’s to die for.
The dish consists of a whole burrata dressed up as a Pumpkin looking bread (because why should the food we eat have to miss out on dressing up in their best costume?!) It’s filled with a delicious layer of pumpkin cream as well as guanciale pebbles–an Italian cured meat prepared from pork jowl or cheeks.
Unregular Pizza was conceived by Gabriele Lamonaca during the pandemic when he began experimenting with various ingredients and flavor combinations. He created an Instagram account to showcase his creations, and soon his friends started asking for a taste.
Originally shared as a barter system, Lamonaca would offer his pizza in exchange for a range of treats, from traditional meals and delicious desserts to home brews, before opening a brick-and-mortar pizzeria in Union Square back in 2021. He’s been serving Roman-style square pizzas ever since, and from the cacio e pepe pie to the mixed mushroom pie there’s a scary amount of different slices to try–all of which would pair perfectly with the Halloween Burrapumpkin!
Plus, there’s even several vegan and gluten-free options (though sadly the Halloween Burrapumpkin doesn’t fit into this category).
The Halloween Burrapumpkin is available for a limited time only, and you can dig into this tasty treat Saturday, October 29 through Halloween day on Monday, October 31. Priced at $10.31 (plus tax), even the cost is an ode to Halloween!
This dish is blowing all the run-of-the-mill pumpkin spiced dishes out of the water, and we’re absolutely here for it.
