Attention to all those who enjoy traveling to a galaxy far, far away: a United Palace Star Wars screening deserves a spot on your February calendar.
Sci-fi enthusiasts who swear by George Lucas‘ sensation are bound to love this all-day, all-immersive event that celebrates the franchise’s roots. On Saturday, February 22nd, the iconic Washington Heights 3,000-seat cultural center will open its doors so fans to enjoy where the journey all began.
United Palace Star Wars screening info:
At noon, the festivities will kick off with an organ performance of Star Wars music by Ian Fraser, followed by the film lineup. The screening schedule is as follows:
- Star Wars: A New Hope at 1pm
- The Empire Strikes Back at 4pm
- Return of the Jedi at 7pm
But you are definitely going to want to remain on the premises in between films for plenty of Star Wars goodness throughout the day: Stormtroopers‘ arrival at 12:30pm, a Yoda impression contest at 3:3opm, a costume parade at 6:30pm, closely followed by a Lightsaber duel of the fates by Project Mayhem Corp at 6:45pm. Like any good all-day bash, there will be raffles, which means you could leave the theater with some cool Star Wars swag.
Needless to say, the main draw is experiencing this phenomena on a 50-foot screen, all in celebration of one of NYC’s most iconic spots, which is turning 95. Head to the United Palace website for tickets and may the force be with you.
Be sure check out all of the cool movies releasing in 2025, too!
