United Airlines flights across the U.S., including those in Newark, Chicago, and Houston, were halted and even canceled on Wednesday evening starting as early as 7:30pm due to a system outage.
Flights have resumed roughly around 10pm ET, though travelers should expect delays.
United Airlines resumes flights
According to an Instagram Story from United Airlines, “The underlying technical issue has been resolved, and, while we expect residual delays, our team is working to restore normal operations.”
Those who are in the midst of traveling can check their flight status online.
The New York Times reveals that roughly a third of United Airlines flights were delayed due to the outage, some for upwards of two hours.
