50 Top Pizza—the highly influential, Italy-founded guide that ranks the best pies on the planet—has officially spoken.
Once again, they are confirming what locals have always known to be true: when it comes to pizza in America, New York City is the place to be.
The undisputed king of Neapolitan pizza
During the 50 Top Pizza USA 2026 ceremony held in Manhattan this week, Anthony Mangieri’s Una Pizza Napoletana claimed the number one spot in the country.

This is far from a fluke. The beloved Lower East Side staple has taken the top prize every single year since 2022.
What makes it so special? Mangieri’s dedication is legendary. He still makes every single ball of dough by hand, shaping and baking every pizza served at the restaurant. It is a massive victory for an independent business, especially since 2026 marks their 30th anniversary.

New York runs the slice game, too
If you prefer a quick fold on the go, the city still reigns supreme. The guide also released its pizza-by-the-slice ranking, and Williamsburg’s own L’Industrie Pizzeria took first place.
They were in excellent local company. Mama’s TOO! grabbed the number 4 spot, Brooklyn D.O.P. hit number 6, Filaga landed at number 8, Mano’s Pizzeria secured number 11, Cello’s Pizza hit number 14, and Roberta’s R Slice rounded it out at number 15.
The numbers don’t lie
The full 2026 guide spans 116 pizzerias across 29 states, but the Empire State completely dominated the map.
New York is the most represented state with 27 venues, easily beating out California (13) and Florida (10). New York City is the most represented city with 24 spots, leaving Chicago and Portland tied for a distant second.
Other local favorites that made the main Top 50 list include Don Antonio, Ribalta, Stretch Pizza, Audace, Pizza Secret, Ops, Kesté, Salsa, Andrew Bellucci’s Pizzeria, and Pasquale Jones.
Whether you are craving a meticulous wood-fired pie or a perfectly greasy, foldable slice, there is really only one city worth the trip. Grab a napkin.
