Fournos Theophilos, a Greek-centric restaurant and market has made its debute in Midtown. It features an all-day Mediterranean menu, yogurt bar, and bakery.
According to their website, Fournos Theophilos is an all-day culinary destination that celebrates Greece’s rich culture, history and traditions through cuisine, art and literature. This past Thursday October 4, they opened the 5,200-square-foot space at 45 W. 45th St., between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The ground floor of the restaurant will be a fast-casual and take out venue while the upstairs hosts the more formal table service portion of the locale.
Pastries, sandwiches and a yogurt bar are the highlights of the downstairs portion of the space so far although you’re also able to buy a selection of products like olive oil from southern and western Greece, Kalamata olives, and different spreads at the separate market area which is pretty cool.
At the back of the space sits an open kitchen where diners can order larger entrees, salads, sides, and soups. One of the best parts about it? According to co-owner, Dionisis Liakopoulos, no dish will be priced over $12.
