Alongside TSA’s touchless ID initiative (supposedly faster than TSA PreCheck), the agency is introducing a new pilot program to further enhance the passenger flying experience. Introducing One Stop Security, international travel’s newest simplification service for passengers arriving in the U.S.
What is One Stop Security?
Ever had a tight layover, only to find yourself stuck in another security line unsure whether you’ll make your flight? One Stop Security intends to eradicate such a process, nearly halving international layover times.
One Stop Security permits passengers arriving in the U.S. from certain foreign airports to bypass re-screening for their connecting flight.

Perks of One Stop Security
- Passengers can skip TSA re-screening upon arrival in the U.S.
- Passengers arriving at One Stop Security locations can proceed directly to the terminal’s sterile area for connecting flights after clearing CBP federal inspection
- Ensures One Stop Security passengers’ checked baggage is transferred to connecting flights without being re-screened
- Increase aviation security at foreign locations to TSA standards
TSA Acting Deputy Administrator, Adam Stahl, said:
One Stop Security is TSA’s latest common-sense approach to streamlining the passenger journey while also bolstering aviation security…International air travel can often be a challenging and time-consuming process. It’s our goal to simplify this experience while maintaining the highest levels of security.
Routes with One Stop Security available
The program first began testing in July. One Stop Security is currently only operational on two layover routes, both departing London Heathrow International Airport, demonstrating a major collaboration between TSA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the United Kingdom. The first arrives in Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport with American Airlines. The second lands at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Delta Air Lines.

More airports and routes are expected to implement One Stop Security in the future. TSA expects this program to cut costs, enhance security, and improve customer experience. Learn more about One Stop Security on the official TSA website.
However, while security times are speeding up, be wary of more recent banned items on the TSA list that could slow you down at the checkpoint, like portable chargers and cordless curling irons.
