This enormous building is coming to Brooklyn after city officials green lit plans on Tuesday.
The proposal for 9 DeKalb Avenue was given the go ahead after the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission approved building on top of Dime Savings Bank.
Standing at a towering 1,066ft over 73 stories, the new apartment building will dwarf other Brooklyn constructions. There are currently only seven buildings in NYC over 1,000ft.
While this is definitely good news for daredevil skyscraper climbers, other New Yorkers have taken to Twitter to voice their opinion on the 500 unit structure:
New Brooklyn skyscraper looks like Christian Bale's character in The Machinist.

I was just thinking that we in Brooklyn needed an ugly skyscraper for all the rich people to have a 3rd condo in https://t.co/X87rqSc5tC.

Landmarks commissioner Frederick Bland said: “To me, this project is enlightened urbanism at its best, where old and new are combined, where short and tall are combined in juxtaposition.”
