8pm on April 15, 1874: history is unfolding on Paris’s famed Boulevard des Capucines. At the heart of photographer Nadar’s iconic studio, a group of 30 trailblazing painters (think Monet, Renoir, Pissarro…) unveiled their bold creations outside the limits of an official Salon. Unbeknownst to them, this new impressionist movement would redefine the art world.
At Tonight with the Impressionists, you’ll be transported back 150 years through immersive 3D virtual reality to relive that groundbreaking Parisian night and beyond.
After wandering through the studio, the journey continues to Frédéric Bazille’s studio, the birthplace of the movement’s ideas, and l’Île de la Grenouillère, the stunning riverside landscape that inspired Monet and Renoir to paint together. Finally, visit the port city of Le Havre, where Monet made the iconic Impression, Sunrise — the very piece after which the movement was named.
Tonight with the Impressionists takes you through Paris and beyond to uncover the birth of Impressionism as we know it.
