Christmas is over and the New Year has just begun! We’re full of motivation and #goals for 2019 and figure you might be too. Take a look at some of the coolest things going on in New York City this January and go ahead and start living your best life.
1. Relax and rejuvenate at Premier 57
Winter is tough on us all so why not start the new year off on the right foot with a relaxing spa day at Premier 57. With your ticket to their spa, you gain access to their sauna, meditation room, and hydrotherapy pools- one is even located on the roof!
2. Take a lap around the rink
Many of NYC’s skating rinks are open all winter long and technically the season has just begun. We haven’t had too much snowfall this year so you still have plenty of time to enjoy the wintery goodness of that is skating across one of NYC’s picture perfect rinks! 3. Get in shape
Who isn’t trying to get in shape this year? Drop the expensive gym membership and get ready to run. NYC has some of pretty awesome running paths and all you need to take advantage of them is a pair of sneakers. Plus, it’s a great training opportunity for the New York Marathon. You don’t have to spend money to get healthy, save those dollar bills for the bar.
4. Celebrate Christmas again at a Russian Cabaret
Onegin in Greenwich Village is hosting a Russian Christmas Cabaret Night this month. The lavish eatery will transport you to the 19th century with an air of elegance resonating from the interior design to the extraordinary Russian cuisine. It will be a show that you’ll never forget. 5. Learn to ski… upstate!
Is there a better time than now to head out to the slopes? And with two major mountain ranges just a few hours away from the city, there’s no excuse not to! 6. Take a snow tubing and brewery tour
Craft beer and two hours of snow tubing sounds like a lot of fun to us. This January, head to Mountain Creek for a 2 hour night snow tubing session followed by a visit to a local brewery with a hearty dinner included. 7. Explore the NY Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens hosts events and shows all year long. Winter is a particularly interesting time to stop by as they have quite a few beautiful blooms that you might not see during springtime. The holiday train show is on until the 12th of the month so if you haven’t seen that yet, January is a good time to catch it.
8. Treat yourself to a facial
Put your best face forward. Literally. Spas across the city are offering New Year deals but Floating Lotus is offering a light therapy mini facial, meant to stimulate collagen. It’s great if you don’t have too much time to spare as it lasts 30 minutes.

This year, don’t only browse through the exhibits but get some real knowledge about all that’s behind those famous paintings. This one is pretty self-explanatory. New York City has thousands of restaurants and you could easily try a new one every week. The Michelin Star list for 2019 has been released. Why not add one special restaurant to your bucket list this month?

14. Enjoy the annual Winter Jazz Fest
The annual Winter Jazz Fest takes place from January 4-12 and features a line up of some of the best artists in the Jazz world. This year the concert is taking place at multiple venues throughout the city. You can find more information on the winterjazzfest.com website.
15. Check out one of NYC’s lesser-known museums
New York is a cultural hub and there are more than enough museums and galleries to experience. This list showcases 14 of NYC’s museums such as the Museo del Barrio and the Museum of the Moving Image.
16. Let your inner Granny loose at Vogue Knitting Live
Grab that ball of yarn because knitting mecca lands in NYC in January. The whole weekend will be taken up with classes and lectures and an international marketplace where you can shop for patterns, hooks, needles and every kind of yarn you can imagine. Tickets come in at various price points and the event is happening from January 24-27.
17. Get nautical at the NYC Boat Show
Can’t afford a boat? No, neither can we. You can afford to look at them though! This five-day nautical convention will feature a vast array of yachts and sailboats with features like a boating simulator, and a “Build A Boat” activity for kids. The event is happening from January 23-27 at the Javits Center.
18. See Justin Timberlake live at MSG
