New York City in the summer is its own dreamy oasis.
From its close proximity to some of the state’s best beaches to the way it transforms for warm–weather events, there are few places that do the sunniest season better than our very own favorite city.
Speaking of beaches and transformations, this summer in particular, Governors Island is transforming into its own beachy paradise. Meet Theodora!
🏝️ Your Passport to Governors Island
If you haven’t been, Governors Island is a magical, car-free escape just a short ferry ride from the hustle of Lower Manhattan.
This season, the island’s breeze is getting a Mediterranean upgrade. Located at 125 Carder Road, the Theodora Beach Club is a ticketed, outdoor event series that feels less like a coastal beachy outing right in our own city.
🌅 Sunset Parties & Live-Fire Feasts
The vibes here are curated by Chef Tomer Blechman, the mind behind the Fort Greene favorites Miss Ada and the original Theodora.
Known for his mastery of wood–fired cooking and dry-aged seafood, Blechman is bringing that same heat to the island.
Expect an incredible lineup throughout June:
- Sunset Parties: Kick off your weekend on Friday nights (like June 5th and 12th) starting at 7:30 PM. Think golden hour views, curated soundtracks, and plenty of salt air.
- Theodora Dinner Series: On Saturdays (June 6th and 13th), the focus shifts to intimate, live-fire cooking and guest chef collaborations that celebrate the very best of Mediterranean soul food.
