Valentine’s Day on Fleet Street this year will not only serve the worst (meat) pies in London, but a special cake too.
The immersive off-broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Barrow Street Theatre typically serves a pre-show pie and mash. Made by former White House pastry chef Bill Yosses, the staple items come in three varieties and must be purchased in advance.
However, from February 13 through February 18 the menu will also include a special Valentine’s Day cake option for two called “Angels Below, Devils Above.”
According to Theater Mania, the cake is described by the chef as:
“a dark chocolate devil meets a vanilla angel in this combo layer cake. The Valrhona chocolate ganache and Madagascar vanilla cream filling come together with a light raspberry glaze, which brings a fruity acidity to this seductive duo.”
Regardless of your pre-show food preference, the production is well worth seeing and has tickets on sale now through May 27.
