Just Salad, a NYC favorite, has taken a move towards sustainability with these reusable bowls.
The popular food chain has made its way into the world of sustainable goods with these $1 reusable bowls. “Just Salad” bowls have been spotted all over the city, from Central Park to Washington Square Park to the steps of the Public Library.
What makes Just Salad unique is their branded blue bowls. In 2017, they won the EPA WasteWise award for the sustainable product. “Waste reduction has always been a key concern of the EPA. We need to feed people, not landfills,” said the EPA deputy regional administrator Walter Mugdan in an interview.
The fact that many plastic salad bowls end up in the trash and later, the land fill, is one of the downsides of take-out salads. However, Just Salad estimates that their reusable bowl initiative saves almost 75,000 pounds of plastic per year.
The best part about the reusable bowls is of course the free food. As an incentive to come back with your bowl, you can choose free avocado, free cheese or two free produce essentials every time you come back! Pretty neat, huh?
