If you haven’t checked out the brand-new home of the Studio Museum in Harlem yet, it is officially time to plan a visit.
The iconic institution opened its beautiful new building to the public on November 15, 2025. Now, they are rolling out an incredible slate of spring and summer programming for 2026.
From groundbreaking art to vibrant outdoor parties, this museum is the ultimate cultural hub this season. Here is everything you need to know to plan the perfect day.

Catch the latest “F” show exhibition
The museum is famous for its “F” show series, which has a legacy of highlighting rising stars in the art world. This season, you can explore Fade, featuring the work of 17 talented early-career artists of African and Afro-Latinx descent.
It is on view right now in the fourth-floor gallery and runs until September 6, 2026. The artists explore deep themes like spirituality, surrealism, and nonlinear time to locate spaces of possibility.

Walk through a mind-bending textile installation
You absolutely cannot miss BLEED, a monumental new commission by French and Canadian artist Kapwani Kiwanga.
Installed in the second-floor project gallery, this piece draws inspiration from the Underground Railroad and the secret codes embedded in quilting traditions.

Kiwanga used fascinating natural dyes to create the stunning colors, including Atlantic Ocean saltwater, pokeberries, and indigo. It will be on display until April 1, 2027.
Celebrate Juneteenth and dance at Uptown Fridays!
The museum is throwing some amazing community events this summer. Mark your calendar for Friday, June 19, 2026, for their Juneteenth Community Day.
You can expect healing workshops, curator discussions, and a live performance on the Stoop by Harlem-based pianist Warner Meadows.
Later in the summer, the beloved Uptown Fridays! series officially returns. Starting July 10, the museum transforms into a vibrant social hub complete with music, dancing, and art.
