Hey nerds, besides heading to Hawkins at NYC’s epic Stranger Things experience for a bitchin’ adventure, the city will honor the upcoming season in a thrilling new way tonight!
On Friday, May 27, the saga’s fourth season will hit Netflix. In order to honor the mind-bending show, Netflix will open “rifts” to the Upside Down across landmarks worldwide on Thursday night, May 26, reports IGN.
Tons of cryptic messages across social media led up to Netflix’s exclusive announcement with IGN hinting to today’s visual spectacle.
When can I see it in NYC?
The rift will “gradually emerge on the southern facade of the Empire State Building” starting at 8:30 pm ET on Thursday, featuring iconic moments from prior seasons, and sneak peeks at season 4’s storylines. The entire projection will loop for approximately two hours, shares IGN.
And for the best place to view it?
That’s where Netflix’s cryptic coordinates come in: 40.7411° N 73.9894° W, which is actually the location of the Flatiron Building. Sources say it will be easier to view from afar.

According to IGN, other projection locations include: Bondi Beach in Australia; Duomo Square in Milan; Gran Malecón de Barranquilla Malecon Barranquilla in Colombia; The Gateway of India in Mumbai; Menara Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; Al-‘Ula National Monument in Saudi Arabia; Calle Gran via 28 in Madrid; Cologne Media Park in Germany; XBox Plaza in Downtown LA; Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland; Medborgarplatsen, Stockholm in Sweden; Shoreditch, London, and Tokyo, Japan.
