St. Patrick’s Day in NYC is one of those holidays where the city collectively agrees to lean all the way in. Fifth Avenue shuts down, Guinness flows like never before, and everyone in the streets is wearing green.
From the world’s largest parade to rowdy street festivals, intimate Irish music showcases, and even green-themed ice cream (because of course), the city goes full shamrock every March 17.
As you start making plans for the holiday, we’ve already done some for work for you.

The 265th New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

The oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world returns to New York City on March 17th, marching up and down Fifth Avenue for the 265th time.
The NYC Saint Patrick’s Day parade promises a day full of Irish dancing and music.
It will be grand marshaled by Robert “Bob” McCann, Co-Chairman of NewEdge Capital Group and Board Chair of the Irish Arts Center. He is being honored for his nearly 30 years of work strengthening ties between Ireland and the U.S.
40 Shades of Green

Back by popular demand for its 5th year, New York Irish Center’s “40 Shades of Green” event returns as the perfect after-parade spot to go.
The six-hour “cultural marathon” starts at 3 pm—just as the Fifth Avenue madness starts to wind down—transforming its storefront theater into a showcase of 50+ world-class performers.
Expect a rapid-fire cavalcade of fiddlers, singer-songwriters, and high-octane step dancers (shoutout to the McManus School).
Stone Street St. Patrick’s Day Festival
Downtown Manhattan’s Stone Street once again returns with a huge Stone Street St. Paddy’s Day Street Fest for 2026.
The historic, pedestrian-only cobblestone strip will become a giant, open-air Irish pub, where New Yorkers can find outdoor bars serving Guinness on draft, famous green “Shamrock Margaritas,” and a line of vendors slinging everything from Irish stew to empanadas.
It’s loud, it’s crowded, and it’s the closest you’ll get to a Dublin street party without a passport.
Stay tuned for the exact dates for 2026, to be announced soon.
A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration with Martin Hayes

Legendary Irish fiddler Martin Hayes is making his headlining debut at Carnegie Hall, and he’s bringing his Common Ground Ensemble that’s basically a Super Bowl halftime show for folk nerds.
Expect a journey from deep, traditional sean-nós singing to wild, improvisational sets that lean into jazz and classical inspired by Irish traditions.
Plus, you’ll catch special guests that include Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon and percussive dancers who make more noise with their feet than a whole parade block.
It’s Paddy’s, Not Patty’s at The Dead Rabbit

Try a ‘Pots of Gold and Rainbows‘ ice cream flavor at Salt & Straw
If green beer isn’t really your thing, head to Salt & Straw taste-test their March “Cereal-sly Delicious” series —which is basically a childhood Saturday morning distilled into a waffle cone.
For St. Patrick’s Day, there’s a festive Pots of Gold and Rainbows flavor—made with cereal-steeped ice cream and hand-sorted rainbow marshmallows.
Plus, they’re dropping their first-ever collector sticker inspired by the flavor, so you can commemorate the delicious offering. They won’t just hand it to you; you have to specifically ask for it when you order a scoop from the series.
