Not even winter can prevent New Yorkers from hanging out on rooftops, but you’ll completely forget it’s freezing outside at this stunning rooftop in Midtown.
Cantina Rooftop on 48th Street has been open for four years and offers a “modern Mexican menu” as well as specialty tequila and mezcal cocktails. But the main attraction? It boasts a climate-controlled retractable glass rooftop terrace with panoramic views of Manhattan, that can be enjoyed no matter the season—or the weather.
The rooftop is always super colorful, and is currently dressed in tons of beautiful hanging flowers, complete with a greenery wall you can take photos in front of.
Chef Saul Montiel worked as an executive chef with some of the top people in the industry (including Jodi Williams, Chef Josh Capon, Amanda Freitag and Anne Burrell) and now is using his talents at Catina Rooftop on a menu that mixes Mexican street food recipes and classic “fonda” (small family-run restaurant) dishes. This includes choices like queso fondido, a selection of tacos (there’s even an all-you-can-eat taco special for $25), aguachile rojo, and much more. Oh, and did we mention there’s weekend brunch?
Plus, for even more fun, they offer what’s probably the biggest taco in NYC on Wednesdays for $80 (which you can pair with their Big Ass Margarita for $140 total). That’s one way to get through hump day!
