Well here is a divisive subject if we’ve ever seen one. On Friday afternoon, writer for Saturday Night Live, Katie Rich tweeted this:
The tweet, aimed at the President’s 10 year old son, Barron, would seem to be a sarcastic jibe at the POTUS pro gun stance.
Rich, who has been a writing for the show since 2013, faced an immediate public backlash. A change.org petition was created calling for her termination from SNL and as of Tuesday it had 112k signatures.
Rich deleted her tweet (along with almost every other tweet on her account) and left only this apology:
Since then it was noted that Rich’s name was missing from the credits of Satirday’s show, and avclub reported that:
A person familiar with the situation at NBC says Rich was suspended immediately after her tweet was published, and the suspension is indefinite.
