With the nation’s-existential-crisis (the 2016 election) only a few days away, it’s easy to forget that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Assuming we won’t be living in a Mad-Max style wasteland right-off-the-bat, we can all look forward to the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Citi Field played host to a test-flight of five new balloons that are set to debut at this year’s parade. The New York Post reported that hundreds of volunteers took to Citi Field’s parking lot prepare the balloons for their maiden voyage.
The new characters will take their place among almost 30 other balloons in this year’s parade. You’ll also see the return of old favorites like Spongebob, the Macy’s star, Thomas the Tank engine, Charlie Brown (after his 4 year break), and a exact replica of the original Felix the Cat balloon which was the first ever to fly in the Macy’s parade in 1927.
Meet the Class of 2016! The newest balloons in this year’s 90th Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
