You might think NYC has already mastered the art of observation decks, and truly how much higher can we go? Well, according to Rockefeller Center, to a maximum of 900 feet!
The Top of the Rock Observation Deck on the 70th floor is giving New Yorkers with a head for heights three extra stories to stare over our beautiful city on the brand new Skylift.
Skylift at Top of the Rock Observation Deck boasts an unobstructed, 360-degree aerial view of NYC. Tickets can now be purchased (for $35 + Top of the Rock ticket) even though the official opening date is on October 1, 2024.
Guests will step onto the open-air platform to begin their ascension. Once reaching beyond the topmost floor of 30 Rock, the platform will begin to rotate visitors for the perfect panoramic scene.
“Rockefeller Center is full of amazing experiences, but none quite as breathtaking as Skylift,” said EB Kelly, Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer and Head of Rockefeller Center. “The thrilling experience of revolving 900 feet above ground for 360-degree views, eye to eye with skyscrapers in the beating heart of New York City, is one no visitor will forget. Skylift is the crown jewel of our revitalization of Rockefeller Center, which has brought a new vibrancy and energy to every corner of campus.”
Skylift at Top of the Rock Observation Deck matches the building’s iconic art deco architecture with marble-like tiers showcasing design motifs that decorate the Center. Oh, and did we mention the Skylift lights up? Yup, we’re talking 96 LED pixel flutes to present a show-stopping light show that can be viewed day or night—not to mention customized for special occasions and holidays (watch out Empire State Building mast!).
This incredible new feature at Top of the Rock adds to The Beam experience, brought to the Center last year, that lets visitors recreate the famous 1932 photograph “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper.”
Just remember, the view will be too beautiful to feel your panic if you’re scared of heights. And if you’re still looking for something to get your blood pumping, you can check out these exhilarating amusement parks near NYC.
