The 150-foot-tall, honeycomb-shaped, climbable public art installation is expected to open to the public in Spring, 2019.
Tickets for the 2,500-step installation will become available in February. According to 6sqft, there will be dedicated time slots for when the installation debuts. By signing up now, you’ll be eligible to be notified when one of the “limited quantity” tickets become available.
Designer of the “New York’s Staircase,” Thomas Heatherwick said in a statement,
“Vessel is one of the most complex pieces of steelwork ever made. Today we are marking the exciting moment when the last of the enormous 75 pre-fabricated pieces which traveled all the way from Italy to Manhattan, has been assembled ahead of schedule and with astonishing geometric accuracy.”
The sculpture sits at the center of the Hudson Yards Plaza, which at the time of completion, will be beautifully landscaped.
If you want a chance to be one of the lucky ones who climbs up the Vessel first, make sure to put your name in by signing up here.
