Lower East Siders, get ready to eat all the ShackBurgers and shakes your stomach can handle, because Shake Shack is opening its very first location on the LES this week.
Bowery Boogie first broke the news about the opening last year, announcing its upcoming takeover of the former Schiller’s Liquor Bar that was around for 14 years on the corner of Rivington and Norfolk Streets. Eater confirmed that the official opening date will be on Friday, August 24th. The hours of operation will be from 11am to midnight.
However, according to EVG, a legal note left on the building this June acknowledges that Shake Shack owes its landlord $200,000 in unpaid rent. Yet, the location is still listed on the website.
Shake Shack grew from humble beginnings before it became a global sensation. It was originally a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park that intended to fundraise money for public art projects. Now, there are hundreds of Shake Shack locations across the world.
Just in 2022 alone, the company scored a 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, offered nearly 3,000 internal promotions and only used recycled napkins.
