And just like that, Carrie Bradshaw’s story has come to a close.
Sex and the City is ending with season three of its spinoff, And Just Like That — news that came somewhat suddenly to those following along with Carrie and co.’s recent adventures.
“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the ‘Sex And The City’ universe is coming to an end,” showrunner, writer and director Michael Patrick King wrote on Instagram. “While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”
Decades of love quarrels, the ebbs and flows of friendship, and fabulous shoes will now be a thing of the past, and we couldn’t help but wonder: “what now?”

Carrie has made an undeniable mark in NYC history — heck, her brownstone in the show needed to be gated off! But it’s time to bid adieu to Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic character.
In a lengthy montage on Instagram, the actor shared just what this role of a lifetime has meant to her.
“She devoted herself to hats, books, shoes, friends and the promise of a new day in her beloved city and the people she treasured most,” Parker wrote. “She has worn shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus.”
The actor continued, “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her.”
Although we’re saying goodbye, there’s still a few more episodes to look forward to. The original 10-episode season has been extended and will close with a two-part finale on August 14th.
