If you weren’t one of the 1,000 lucky fans to get your hands on $10 Hamilton tickets this past July, we have something even better for you–the Tony Award-winning musical is partnering with New York City Tourism + Conventions on a Hamilton-themed scavenger hunt, and participants have a chance to win free tickets to the show!
From Monday, August 4th, through Sunday, August 24th, theater fanatics can explore NYC landmarks, solve clues, and sport their detective skills for a chance to win tickets to Hamilton on Broadway. Here’s what you need to know:
How the Hamilton-Themed Scavenger Hunt Works
To compete for your chance to win free Hamilton tickets, you’ll first have to download the HamApp.
In the app, you’ll find 12 special spots around the city, revealed both through hints shared within the app and on official Hamilton and NYC Tourism + Conventions social channels.
Each location will unlock a special camera filter in the app’s “Ham Cam” with the location’s name. In order to qualify for tickets, you’ll have to visit and post photos from at least three different locations.
Post your photos on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook using the hashtag #HamiltenNYC.
Winner Announcement Dates
Three participants will win a pair of tickets to see Hamilton from January to March 2026.
Winners will be selected over the course of the scavenger hunt period, with winner announcements taking place on August 11th, 18th, and 25th.

The scavenger hunt is part of Hamilton’s 10th anniversary celebrations–hence the hashtag “HamiltenNYC”–no, it isn’t a typo!
The show, which premiered off-Broadway in 2015 before heading to Broadway, has become a cultural phenomenon and is marking this milestone with special events, including a reunion performance at the 2025 Tony Awards.
