You’ve made it through yet another winter! Time to celebrate with some… macarons? We’re having déjà-vu because Macaron Day NYC is back and you’re invited to try the classic French cookie in the 19 participating bakeries around Manhattan and Brooklyn. FOR FREE!
Modeled after the Jour du Macaron (Macaron Day) in France, the tradition was started here in New York by chef François Payard in honor of City Harvest, an organization fighting hunger that will collect 55 million pounds of excess food to help feed nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers this year alone. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the nonprofit, so that’s pretty sweet too.
Speaking of sweetness, let’s talk flavors. Vanilla, pistachio, almond, berry, mint, chocolate, lavender, the list goes on; just make sure to stop by participating locations from 10am-5pm to receive your one free macaron per stop. Here’s the list of bakeries, or better yet, use this deliciously helpful map:

Finally, since one is never enough (especially when it comes to desserts), feel free to treat yourself to some macarons to take home or try your hand at the French delicacy in a baking class with François himself.
Très bien indeed!
