After operating as take-out only since the start of the pandemic, Russ & Daughters cafe has finally reopened for indoor dining.
The news was officially announced on their Instagram as of Monday, July 25th. The caption read:
For two long years, we wandered in the deserted Cafe.
Booths tempted no tuchus, forks were farblunget, and we faced our schmears by doing take-out only.
Like lox without bagel, rollmop without onions, rugelach without jam, something was missing: YOU!Now we’re back.
Store hours are currently Thursday – Monday starting at 8:30 am until the last seating time at 2:30pm. The cafe is only accepting walk-ins. No reservations are available.
Russ & Daughters dates back four generations of the Russ family. The cafe first opened back in 2014, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the mother store on Houston Street. Though the New York Institution has always been a neighborhood landmark, it lacked a seating area that the café now provides.
