Nearly 20 years ago on Friday, March 24, 2006, Hannah Montana first aired on Disney Channel with the episode “Lilly, Do You Want to Know a Secret?” The wildly popular series ran for four seasons until January 2011, starring Miley Cyrus as Miley Stewart: normal teen by day, pop star Hannah Montana by night.
And now, to mark two decades of Cyrus truly living the best of both worlds, rumors are swirling that she might be celebrating in a major way–with a 20th anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden. Cue the sparkly mic drop!
Here’s what we know so far.
The Grammy-winning musician first teased plans for the anniversary in an interview with SiriusXM on July 22, 2025, saying:
I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this. Without Hannah, there wouldn’t really be this me. It’s crazy to think that I started as a character that I thought was going to be impossible to shed, and now that’s something that when I walk into a space, it’s looked at as this sense of kind of, like, nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood. So, that’s exciting to get to celebrate that.
Then, at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on January 3, 2026, Cyrus doubled down when Variety asked if anything was in the works for the Hannah Montana anniversary. Her answer? A very promising: “Absolutely, we’re working hard on them.”
Cyrus also showed up rocking some very cute, very chic Hannah Montana-esque bangs–which she even pointed out herself with a casual, “You see the bangs,” when asked if she could tease any of the anniversary plans.
Coincidence? We think not. After all, if the bangs already fit the fictional popstar’s signature look, no need to bother with an itchy wig!
But will we get another iconic “Helloooo, New Yorkkkk!” this year? The rumors say maybe, but for now, it’s still very much up in the air.
The Legacy of Nerd–a self-described “Trusted Source for Morphinominal Entertainment News, Celebrity Interviews, Reviews”–reported that a one-night-only Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary concert could be held at Madison Square Garden “if all plans go through.”
Keyword: could.
Translation: don’t get your hopes up just yet.
Cyrus hasn’t officially announced plans to tour or perform as Hannah Montana for the anniversary, meaning the rumors are still very TBD.
Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from spiraling in the best possible way. Comments under the post include: “I will sell the naming rights to my first born to get tickets,” “I will do anything I can to attend this,” and the extremely valid, “She might need about 5 nights, we ALL WANNA COME!!!”
So yes, start mentally planning your glitter outfit just incase–Legacy of Nerd says tickets might go on sale as soon as next month.
And, per Miley Cyrus fan account MileyCyrusBz, insiders suggest the show could happen in March, with a Disney+ presale rumored.
Not in New York? That may not be a problem.
TikTok user haydensmodernlife, who shares NYC concert news, added that additional rumors swirling around include one that, if the show does happen and proves to be successful–we already know it will be–it could go global!
So, brb…we’re emotionally preparing for either the best night ever or a very dramatic disappointment. Stay tuned!
