Rooftop Films, NYC’s leading traveling outdoor cinema organization, just announced their summer schedule edgy summer movie schedule. Here’s everything you need to know.
Rooftop Films moves around the city showcasing events on rooftops, parks, and other scenic spots exploring film, music, art and the spectacular locations themselves. Now celebrating their 21st year, the organization recently said in a press release, “we’re legal, but not playing it safe,” and are exploring the moral gray zone this season, especially in their first event of the summer… something we can all relate to, I’m sure.
Their first event of the summer kicks off on May 19 on the roof of The Old American Can Factory (232 Third St. Brooklyn). There they’ll treat movie-goers to a short film program followed by a dance party. The whole season will include 45 movies in total screened at 10 outdoor venues throughout NYC. The schedule includes a mixed bag of independent films and shorts and a few of the nights include live music and after parties like the first evening on the 19th.
Rooftop Films is a nonprofit organization and rely on community support to bring films directly to neighborhoods throughout the city. You can find info on how to support the project HERE.
