It’s once again becoming rooftop season in NYC!
Though summer weather has been a little sporadic this year with a blistering heat wave and lots of rain, it’s still the time to plan out your must-visit rooftops for when the heat is bearable and the sun is shining!
From Midtown mainstays to brand new spots with glass greenhouses for socially distant dining, there are tons of amazing options.
These 24 places are currently open for cocktails and dining, with COVID-19 compliant safety measures in place. Cheers!
1. Ampia Rooftop, FiDi
Where: 100 Broad Street
Hours: Monday – Friday: 4 pm – 10 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 12 pm – 10 pm
Ampia Rooftop, which comes from the owners of the popular Gnoccheria, makes socially-distanced dining even more charming (and safe) with these plastic mini greenhouses adorning their terrace.
Located in FiDi, the rooftop has greenhouses for tables of two that diners can cuddle up in for light bites and drinks. Oh and another positive–a little rain won’t bother you! There are also contactless menus, which diners only have to scan a QR code on the their phones to peruse.
They’ve been totally decked-out with florals for spring!

The Top of the Box is normally a stunning NYC wedding venue, but now it is opening up to the public for the first time ever as an amazing cocktail bar. The clever name refers to the rooftop on top of The Box House Hotel in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The 10,000 square foot space features unobstructed panoramic views of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island City (just take a peek above!). The wrap-around marble bar opened up for signature cocktails this past summer.
3. Cantina Rooftop, Hell’s Kitchen
Where: 605 W 48th St.
Hours: Monday dinner : 4 pm – 11 pm, Tuesday – Friday: 4 pm – 12 am, Saturday brunch: 11 am – 3:30 pm, Saturday dinner: 5 pm – 12 am, Sunday brunch: 11 am – 4:30 pm
Cantina Rooftop on 48th Street has been open since 2014 and offers a “modern Mexican menu” as well as specialty tequila and mezcal cocktails. But the main attraction? It boasts a climate-controlled retractable glass rooftop terrace with panoramic views of Manhattan, that can be enjoyed no matter the season—or the weather. Right now it’s decked out with brightly colored umbrellas, making a gorgeous photo op.
And while you’re there, don’t forget about their gigantic 12-pound taco!
4. Mondrian Terrace, NoMad
Where: 444 Park Ave S.
Hours: Tuesday- Saturday 5pm -11pm
This NYC hotel has a beautiful terrace on the 15th floor, overlooking the city. Tables are six feet apart and with comfortable booth seating and surrounding plants, you’ll feel like you’ve been whisked away to a peaceful garden oasis. An oasis with an incredible cocktail menu, that is! The craft cocktails available on the rooftop are light, bright and perfect for spring. You an also enjoy these magical candlelight concerts from their rooftop as well.
5. Sushi Lab Rooftop, Midtown
Where: 132 w 47th St.
Hours: Monday dinner 5pm – 9:30 pm, Tuesday – Friday lunch 12pm – 3pm, Tuesday – Friday dinner: 5 pm – 9:30pm, Saturday – Sunday Dinner 11:30am – 10pm
Have a fine dining rooftop experience at Sushi Lab Rooftop, atop the gorgeous midtown Sanctuary Hotel. The new rooftop restaurant features Japanese small plates along with creative sushi, plus an incredible omakase experience, utilizing only the freshest ingredients. The space features seats at the chef’s counter and additional outdoor tables practicing safe social distancing.
Where: 152 W 26th St.
Hours: Thursday-Saturday 3-11 p.m, with an expanded schedule starting soon
If you want to channel summer vibes, and if you didn’t get out to the Hamptons as much as you wanted to last year, the Sandbar Rooftop in Chelsea is reopening this spring. They have a retractable roof and those swing seats we adore!. Exact dates have yet to be released for their weekend opening, but stay tuned for updates.
7. Ainslie, Brooklyn
Where: 76 Ainslie St., Brooklyn
Hours: Monday – Tuesday 5 pm – 11pm, Wednesday – Thursday 5pm – 11pm, Friday 4pm – 11pm, Saturday 11am – 11pm, Sunday 11am- 10pm

8. Westlight NYC, Brooklyn
Where: 111 N 12th St., Brooklyn
Hours: Monday – Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday & Sunday 1pm – 11pm
On top of The William Vale hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, this 22nd floor rooftop bar comes from Chef Andrew Carmellini. Enjoy sweeping views of the city while you sip on one of their original or classic cocktails.
9. Refinery Rooftop, Midtown
Where: 63 W 38th St.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 4:30 pm – 10 pm, Friday – Sunday 11:30 am – 10 pm
Get an up-close view of the Empire State Building at this terrace atop the Refinery Hotel. They have fun handcrafted cocktails, along with light bites like sliders, cacio e pepe tater tots or a chocolate cookie skillet to indulge your sweet tooth!
10. The Crown NYC, Lower Manhattan
Where: 50 Bowery
Hours: Wednesday – Sunday 4pm – 11pm
This go-to NYC rooftop at Hotel 50 Bowery in downtown Manhattan is ready for spring patio season! Enjoy incredible views plus a rotating selection of Gerber Group’s classic and seasonal cocktails alongside an expansive collection of small-batch spirits, regionally brewed craft beers, and universal wine offerings.
11. Eataly, Flatiron
Where: 200 Fifth Avenue
Hours: Sunday-Thursday 11:30am – 9:00pm, Friday-Saturday 11:30am – 9:30pm
One of the city’s favorite rooftops, SERRA by Birreria, has transformed into their current spring theme inspired by “a greenhouse with flower buds, greenery, and plants, inspired by nature’s own flowering transformation.” The enchanting space will transport you to the Italian countryside with a bright, fun ambiance. 12. The Ready, East Village
Where: 112 E 11th St, New York (The Moxy East Village)
Opening on April 29th, located at the Moxy Hotel East Village is the newest spring rooftop destination. The Ready was “inspired by a casual backyard garden in the East Village the rooftop will be open year-round with their retractable glass roof! With colorful seating and a hand-painted mural, the space gives of beer garden vibes while paying homage to the East Village neighborhood. There’s even a beer pong table that serves as a communal table!
13. Make Believe, LES
Where: 190 Allen St, New York
Hours: Monday – Friday 6pm – 12am, Saturday – Sunday 2pm – 12am
This rooftop oasis feels like a tropical paradise 7 floors above Manhattan. Lounge on their plush pink couches while you dance to the energetic DJ set and sip on cocktails until the sun has long set. Try their Crystal Negroni- Mezcal for the perfect sweet and smokey summer drink. Learn more on their website.
14. Harriet’s Rooftop & Lounge, Brooklyn Heights
Where: 60 Furman St, Brooklyn Heights
Hours: Monday – Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday – Sunday 12pm – 12am
Get unmatched views of the Brooklyn Bridge at this rooftop bar and lounge! Located on the 10th floor of 1 Hotel Brooklyn you’ll find the perfect escape with panoramic views of Manhattan. Whether its brunch or dinner, the menu features incredible dishes from Chilaquiles to Steak & Fries…not to mention delicious cocktails!
15. 230 Fifth Rooftop, Flatiron
Where: 230 5th Ave, New York
Hours: Monday – Friday 4pm – 12am, Saturday – Sunday 12pm – 12am
You simply can’t beat the view of the Empire State Building from 230 Fifth Rooftop. You can rent your own private igloo or choose to dine completely outdoors. With comfortable seating, tropical palm trees, and frozen drinks you’ve got all you need for a good time! Make your reservation on their website.
16. Elsie Rooftop, Midtown
Where: 1412 Broadway, New York
Hours: Wednesday – Thursday 5pm – 11pm, Friday 5pm – 12am, Saturday 1pm – 12 am, Sunday 1pm -11pm
Check out this rooftop located right near Bryant Park and 25 stories up. This upscale rooftop will have you feeling giddy with its gorgeous views and not just from their cocktails! Try their Cold Poached Lobster Sliders or their Truffle Grilled Cheese along with a Sunset cocktail made with Tanqueray, strawberry, lemon, sugar, and soda. Learn more here.
17. Mr. Purple, LES
Where: 180 Orchard St 15th floor, New York
Hours: Monday – Friday 4pm – 11pm, Saturday – Sunday 12pm – 11pm
Though known for their luxurious winter chalet theme, don’t forget that Mr. Purple is the rooftop to be on all year-round. On top of Hotel Indigo’s 15th floor, this vibrant spot is just what’d you’d expect to find in the funky Lower East Side neighborhood. Not feeling like drinking but still want the view? No worries, they serve cold pressed juices and coffee that are just as tasty!
18. Magic Hour Rooftop, Midtown
Where: 485 Seventh Avenue, New York
Hours: Monday – Friday 3pm – 12 pm, Saturday – Sunday 11:30am – 12 pm
Currently still decorated for their pink winter lodge, their pink rose garden will launch May 6th. The 18th floor rooftop will transform into an all pink garden complete with 10,000 roses, and of course pink themed treats and cocktails! The installation is created in partnership with Design House Decor and is sure to wow.
19. Monarch Rooftop, Midtown
The Monarch Rooftop takes over 5,000 square feet and maintains a clubby atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Soak in the sun hundreds of feet above street level with a drink in hand. Enjoy their cozy couches and choose from an extensive menu with refreshing light bites and top-notch cocktails.

20. Cloud Social, K-Town

From hand-crafted cocktails to your favorite bar food snacks, Cloud Social offers a friendly atmosphere with hip decor and a beautiful indoor to outdoor transitional space. Order a Sex in the city for a sweet a spicy cocktail made with Hornitos tequila, lime juice, aperol, mango puree, spicy chili infused home made syrup, or the Light of Metlife with Bacardi rum, watermelon juice, watermelon syrup, fresh watermelon, mint, lime juice, and soda.
21. JIMMY, SoHo

The iconic JIMMY rooftop has just reopened atop the new Modernhaus SoHo Hotel and it’s celebrating it 10 year anniversary. Enjoy new and creative cocktails like the Mexican Honey Bee or the Boozy Watermelon Frose along with global bar fare. Make sure to check out the outdoor pool deck and unobstructed panoramic view of the city.
22. Glass Ceiling, Nomad
Where: 1204 Broadway (5th Floor), New York
Hours: Wednesday – Friday 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday – Sunday 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Named after its retractable glass ceiling, this new rooftop botanical-themed bar has the perfect ambiance with a marble bar and luxurious seating (both indoor and outdoor). Catch the perfect view of the Empire State building while you order tasty cocktails like the Pomegranate Spritz or the Champagne Cucumber Mojito.

Hours: Wednesday – Sunday 11 p.m. – late
This two-level nightclub & lounge located on the 38th & 39th floor of the Renaissance NY Chelsea Hotel is also the tallest hotel rooftop with a pool in the city! It’s secret garden theme and enchanting decor will transport you to a mystical wonderland. Enjoy live DJs, pool parties, and immersive dinners all summer long at this go-to spot. Hours: 5 p.m. – midnight on Thursday, 5 p.m.-2 a.m. on Friday, 3 p.m.-2 a.m. on Saturday, and 3 p.m.-midnight on Sunday.
Take in never-before-seen views from Roosevelt Island’s new rooftop bar! Seating 168 guests atop the Graduate Roosevelt Island hotel, the theme is classic with a twist. Featuring a wide selection of martinis including lychee, apple and a draft espresso martini, the drinks are absolutely delicious.
