It’s astounding—time is fleeting…especially here in New York City, where the moment has finally arrived to do the Time Warp again. In simpler terms: casting has been announced for Broadway’s upcoming production of The Rocky Horror Show.
The long-awaited revival will land this spring at Studio 54, and the cast is stacked with stars from Saturday Night Live to Yellowjackets, Pose to Everything Everywhere All at Once.
The iconic story, though it requires no introduction, follows squeaky-clean sweethearts Brad and Janet, whose perfectly planned evening takes a sharp detour when their car breaks down outside a mysterious mansion. Inside, they encounter the charismatic, corset-clad Dr. Frank-N-Furter, along with a house full of devoted—and decidedly strange—inhabitants, including Riff Raff, Magenta and Columbia.
What unfolds is a gleefully unhinged night of mad science, rock ’n’ roll, and self-discovery, as innocence gives way to indulgence and the boundaries between pleasure, identity and expectation dissolve in a swirl of fishnets and floor shows.
Presented by Roundabout Theatre Company, the production is directed by Oh, Mary!’s Sam Pinkleton, with choreography by Ani Taj, and begins previews March 26 ahead of an April 23 opening. For Broadway, it’s just a jump to the left, and a step into absolute pleasure.
