Back in July 2022 NYC Ferry and Mayor Adams announced they’d be launching (no pun intended) the Rockaway Rocket, an express ferry service going straight to the Rockaways–and it’s returning this July with two brand new stops!
On Saturday, July 20th, the Rockaway Rocket will begin running between Long Island City, Greenpoint, and Rockaway.
The ride will have two morning departures from Long Island City and Greenpoint to Rockaway and two evening return trips back from Rockaway. It will run on the following schedule:
Saturday-Sunday
- Departing Long Island City at 9:30 am & 12:30 pm
- Departing Greenpoint at 9:41 am & 12:41 pm
- Departing Rockaway at 2:30 pm & 5:30 pm
Total approximate travel time is 76 minutes, according to the NYC Ferry website.
The Rockaway Rocket only runs on weekends and holidays. Beat the lines and the heat with a guaranteed spot on the ferry by grabbing your ticket beforehand on the NYC Ferry App for $10.
And be sure you make the most of your trip with our ultimate guide to Rockaway Beach!
Worried about getting seasick? No problem–the MTA has announced extended NYC subway service to Rockaway Beach.
