Broadway is stepping beyond the Great White Way and heading straight to Rockefeller Center. Beginning Thursday, May 14, The Rink at Rockefeller Center will transform into an open-air stage for Road to Broadway–a free performance series featuring live performances from the stage’s biggest shows.
If you’ve been dying to see Hadestown or The Great Gatsby but haven’t snagged tickets yet, this is your chance to see them for the price of…well, nothing.
What is Road to Broadway?
Curated by Playbill, this four-week series brings live sets from 15 of Broadway’s most popular shows directly to Midtown.
Unlike a typical theater experience, there are no walls, no ticket booths, and no triple-digit price tags.

The 2026 Schedule & Lineup
Performances take place every Thursday at 12 pm from May 14 through June 4. The series is broken down into four acts:
- May 14 – Opening Act: Wicked, Hadestown, Chicago
- May 21 – Act II: Six: The Musical, Just in Time, & Juliet, Death Becomes Her
- May 28 – Act III: Operation Mincemeat, The Great Gatsby, Maybe Happy Ending
- June 4 – The Famous Finale: MJ: The Musical, The Outsiders, The Book of Mormon, Moulin Rouge! The Musical
How To Attend For Free
The event is totally free and open to the public. You can simply show up and find a spot around the plaza to watch the magic happen.
