Opening day is headed our way for so many summer attractions all around our favorite city!
And with NYC’s most adventurous season naturally on its way as well, it’s officially time to start mapping out those carefree day trips, spontaneous shore weekends, and nostalgic summer outings that always manage to become the memories you talk about for years afterward.
For those looking for a dose of nostalgia wrapped up in their summer plans, there’s just something unbeatable about a classic water park day—especially the kind that still feels delightfully old-school in the best possible way.
Think the smell of sunscreen and boardwalk fries in the air, flip flops sticking to hot pavement, arcade sounds drifting through the background, and the thrill of sprinting from a towering waterslide straight onto the beach.
That’s exactly the vibe at Keansburg Amusement Park & Runaway Rapids, the beloved Jersey Shore destination where you can spend the afternoon racing down a 10-story water drop slide before wandering onto a retro oceanfront boardwalk just steps away. It’s equal parts water park chaos and classic beach-town charm, and honestly? The kind of summer day that never really goes out of style.

High-Thrill Slides & Vintage Rides
Runaway Rapids is a literal oasis of vintage splash options, boasting over 18 thrilling water slides that cater to everyone from adrenaline junkies to those who prefer a gentle drift. Brave the heart-pounding, 10-story drop slides, or grab a tube and melt away into the crazy lazy river.
Right next door, the historic Keansburg Amusement Park keeps the energy going on dry land. Celebrating over a century of family fun, it features a perfect blend of dozen of rides:
- For the Daredevils: Pulse-pounding roller coasters and gravity-defying thrill rides.
- For the Kids: Over a dozen dedicated kiddie rides, including five beautiful, genuine antique rides.

Nostalgic Eats, Arcades, and Skyline Views
You can’t have a classic Jersey Shore day without the boardwalk, and Keansburg is one of the state’s oldest and most charming.
Take a break from the rides to stroll along the oceanfront, where you can indulgence in iconic boardwalk staples—think perfectly salted fries, funnel cakes, and cold sodas.
When you need a break from the sun, step into Bev & WaLLy’s Family Fun Center or the main Game Room to test your skills on retro arcade games.
Best of all? The park sits right on a beautiful, completely free public beach where you can look out past the waves to catch a stunning, panoramic view of the lower Manhattan skyline.
