Though it may be out of your price range (it sure as hell is out of ours), Sonja Morgan, former Real Housewives of New York City star, has decided to auction off her multimillion dollar Upper East Side home at 162 E. 63rd St, according to Gimme Shelter.
Apparently the townhouse has been on and off the market since 2013. Its original price tag 11 years ago was a whopping $9.95 million! And after lacking an official buyer for more than a decade, it’s seen its fair share of price drops. In 2022, it was re-listed for $8.75 million and to $7.5 million one year later.
Known for its private elevator (often pictured in the tv series), the five-story, 4,650-square-foot townhouse is picture perfect. Additional home amenities and features on the property include a sauna, a library, Venetian plastered walls, an 800-square-foot basement, and an outdoor garden and koi pond.
“This townhouse has been our cherished home for decades,” Morgan shared in a statement. “In addition to raising my daughter here, we entertained heads of state, royalty, luminaries and Fortune 500 CEOs. Many memories were made over the years, including hosting my daughter’s friends from boarding school and university, and so many noteworthy moments were filmed by NBC for Bravo and Peacock TV. Now, as an empty nester, I am ready to share this turnkey, easy-to-manage jewel over to someone new to enjoy as we did.”
The property is listed by Concierge Auctions and will sell online by May 29, 2024. Paulina Kimbel, from Concierge Auctions, said bids are predicted to be between the range of $1.75 million and $3.75 million. Quite a price plummet from the original $9.95 million listing! Bidding opens on May 15, 2024.
“The auction process aligns with my goal to sell at market value in an efficient and timely manner,” Morgan echoed in her statement. “It’s now finally the time to take advantage of the moment.”
