If you took the 7-train this morning you may have heard a new voice announcing your stops.
The Golden Globes winner and Queens native, Awkwafina (or Nora Lum), is the temporary new voice making announcements on the 7 train—which runs to and from Flushing, Queens to Hudson Yards, Manhattan. The subway take over comes as a promotional partnership between Comedy Central and the MTA for Awkwafina’s new series, “Nora From Queens.”
Nora will be taking over conductor duties from today, Thursday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 22. Adding to the regular announcement of stops, bus services, and transfers, she also includes personal and sarcastic comments to the mix; like her recording for the Times Square stop saying: “This is Times Square—42nd Street—where New Yorkers go to relax!”
Wait, is @awkwafina the voice of the @mta 7 train now?! What a fun promotion for @NoraFromQueens. pic.twitter.com/28Fm9RNKSo
