As millions of adoring fans are patiently (or not so patiently!) waiting for Season 3, a new spin-off show, ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,’ has dropped on Netflix today! Golda Rosheuvel, who plays the beloved Queen Charlotte character, has inspired this new series, according to Shondaland.
The new show, written by Executive Producer/Creator Shonda Rhimes, uncovers the intriguing early backstories and focuses on the rise and love life of the fascinating Queen Charlotte. It also features other leading ladies we have come to know and love from the popular series, including a young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte in the original Bridgerton series, said during a special sneak peek announcement that NYC would be the next city for the exclusive Bridgerton ball, which has finally opened in Manhattan. And, with much excitement, the one-and-only Shonda Rhimes recently attended the Bridgerton Experience with the cast of ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.’
Rhimes ventured to the ball in NYC with actress Golda Rosheuvel, who plays the witty Queen, Arsema Thomas, who plays a young Lady Danbury, and Sam Clemmett, a.k.a Brimsley, in the new show! During the surprise visit, they were fully immersed in the experience, posing with the Queen, showing off their regal bows, and wowing partygoers, too!

Rhimes shared during the insider event, “Romance stories don’t usually include women of a certain age in this sort of genre, and I really wanted to tell the stories of these women and who they are and how they came to be.” She continued by saying that fans can look forward to some really exciting, romantic, and surprising moments that build and fill out the world of Bridgerton in a way that hasn’t been seen before.
