This Fourth of July, a spectacular parade of tall ships will sail through New York Harbor to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
But instead of fighting for elbow room on a crowded pier, you could be taking in the historic views from a bubbling outdoor pool.
Just a quick five-minute ferry ride from Lower Manhattan, QC New York on Governors Island is offering the ultimate front-row seat to the festivities, proving you don’t need to leave the city to find a perfect summer escape.
A historic Independence Day
The official tall ship parade will fill the harbor from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 4, 2026. QC New York stays open through the parade’s close, allowing you to relax in their panoramic pools and lush gardens before heading back to the city for the evening fireworks.

Watching the ships from here feels incredibly fitting. Governors Island was fortified by Continental troops in 1776 and held by the British after the Battle of Brooklyn. It is a striking historical backdrop to celebrate the nation’s 250th milestone.
Can’t make it exactly on the 4th? You can still catch the fleet in motion. Between July 3 and July 8, the ships will be moving in and out of the harbor to station at various piers around the city.
Poolside beauty bar and sunset aperitivo
If whimsy is the vibe you are chasing this summer, the spa is also introducing a brand-new way to unwind and embrace la dolce vita.
Every Wednesday through July 15, QC New York is transforming your pool day with a curated Beauty Bar from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Imagine an orange-and-white striped cart—straight out of a Riviera beach club—rolling up to hand you soothing under-eye patches, vitamin-rich gummies, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. You can treat your skin while floating in the water or lounging under a sun umbrella with views of the Manhattan skyline.

Once you have explored the spa’s 30-plus wellness experiences (including waterfalls, saunas, and steam rooms), you can stick around for golden hour. The spa serves a daily sunset aperitivo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you purchase two drinks, you’ll receive a complimentary tray of seasonal Italian snacks.
