1. Farol de Montauk Point
Viaje até a parte mais ao leste de Long Island para visitar o Montauk Point Lighthouse, um marco mundialmente famoso. Encomendado pelo presidente George Washington em 1792, o farol orgulhosamente ainda é o mais antigo do estado de Nova York e o quarto farol em funcionamento mais antigo do país.
Ele fica lindamente empoleirado em uma colina, oferecendo vistas deslumbrantes de 360° do Block Island Sound e do Oceano Atlântico. 2. Farol de Fire Island
Datado de 1858, o Farol de Fire Island continua a ser um dos faróis mais legados do leste. Ele serviu como um importante marco marítimo para os navios transatlânticos que chegavam ao porto de Nova York na virada do século passado e foi um ponto de atração para muitos imigrantes europeus. Ao longo dos anos, o farol passou por muitas mudanças e reformas, com a marca atual de faixas pretas e brancas alternadas datando de agosto de 1891.

3. Farol de Huntington Harbor
O Farol de Huntington Harbor foi construído em 1912, poucos anos depois de substituir uma edição anterior que ajudava os navios a navegar pelo Lloyd Harbor entre o Long Island Sound, às vezes traiçoeiro. O farol único fica no meio de uma pequena ilha, parecendo quase um castelo feito de concreto em vez de um farol alto e cilíndrico tradicional.
Como fica em uma ilha, você só poderá visitar o farol por meio de um passeio que acontece em domingos selecionados durante o verão de 2024. 4. Farol de Hudson-Athens
Siga para o norte entre as cidades de Hudson e Athens para encontrar esse maravilhoso farol, que foi construído em 1874. O pequeno e bonito farol de tijolos na ilha foi projetado para ajudar os navios a navegarem em Middle Ground Flats, um perigoso banco de areia no Rio Hudson. Agora, sob o olhar atento da Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society, os visitantes podem fazer um passeio (de barco) pelo farol em alguns sábados, de julho a outubro.

5. O farol Little Red
O Little Red Lighthouse é um dos poucos faróis que estão de fato dentro dos limites de Nova York! Na verdade, seu apelido vem do clássico infantil de Hildegarde H. Swift de 1942, “The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge” (O pequeno farol vermelho e a grande ponte cinza), e você pode encontrá-lo sob a ponte George Washington no Fort Washington Park.
É claro que ele oferece vistas do rio, da ponte George Washington e da costa de Nova Jersey… e os visitantes podem subir a longa escada de ferro até o deck de observação e ver a ponte e a água. 6. Farol de Stepping Stone
Esse farol em estilo vitoriano em Long Island Sound é muito bonito e data de 1877. Ele é membro do Registro Nacional de Lugares Históricos desde 2005 (e por um bom motivo) e continua a funcionar como um farol ativo da Guarda Costeira dos Estados Unidos até hoje. Como esse é o caso , infelizmente não é possível visitar o farol, mas você provavelmente poderá vê-lo de longe.

7. Farol de Saugerties
O Farol de Saugerties não é apenas um famoso farol de referência no Rio Hudson, mas também um museu e um Bed and Breakfast! O farol de tijolos de cair o queixo foi criado em 1869 como uma forma de orientar o tráfego fluvial e marcar a entrada do Esopus Creek, e agora é uma atração completa. Os hóspedes podem ter vistas incríveis do Rio Hudson, ver os aposentos do faroleiro (com móveis e artefatos de época) e até mesmo passar a noite no farol histórico. 8. Farol de Execution Rocks
Um dos faróis mais assustadores, porém fascinantes, desta lista, o Execution Rocks Lighthouse recebeu seu nome da época colonial, quando as autoridades britânicas executavam piratas e outros criminosos acorrentando-os às rochas na maré baixa, deixando-os se afogar quando a maré subia. Sua localização assustadora entre rochas irregulares e uma ilha o torna único, pois tem alguma história e uma história assustadora por trás. Embora não seja acessível para visitação (a menos que você passe de barco), os moradores locais lhe dirão que todos os tipos de folclore e histórias de fantasmas são contados sobre esse farol.

9. Farol da Ilha Blackwell
O Blackwell Island Lighthouse também é conhecido por muitos como Roosevelt Island Lighthouse, pois fica na ponta norte da ilha. Ele desempenhou um papel crucial durante a Revolução Americana e a Guerra de 1812, servindo como um ponto estratégico para as forças britânicas e americanas… e hoje continua funcionando e tem até um centro de visitantes com exposições históricas e visitas guiadas.
