If you rather save time, than ride a 10-hour train from NYC to Montreal, this new nonstop flight on Porter Airlines will get you there in less than two hours—with no middle seats!
Canadian airline, Porter, is launching its first nonstop flight between Newark International Airport (EWR) and Montreal Trudeau Airport (YUL) this spring. Service will begin with one daily route on June 1, 2025. During peak summer, Porter will offer an additional daily roundtrip flight.
“We are excited to partner with Porter Airlines to offer new nonstop service between Montréal and Newark Liberty International Airport. This expansion reflects our region’s growing demand for more seamless travel options to top North American destinations and highlights our continued commitment to offering more flexibility for the New York-New Jersey area’s travelers, especially as international travel demand increases,” said Charles R. Everett Jr., aviation director, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Here is the flight schedule starting this June:

So what makes this route more special than any other? Passengers traveling on Porter’s 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft won’t have to fight over their seat assignment as no one will be subject to a middle seat.
Plus, complimentary snacks and free beer and wine will be available in-flight. Moreover, guests can upgrade their flight to PorterReserve to enjoy more legroom, priority check-in and boarding, and an included checked bag.
Porter already services two Canadian routes from Newark, including flights to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and Ottawa International Airport (YOW).
“Newark Airport has been a key part of Porter’s network since the launch of our Billy Bishop – Newark service in 2008. Adding a nonstop route from Montréal will make the New York area even more accessible for our passengers, giving them more options to choose from when planning their trips to the Empire State,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines.
