At the end of this week, the popular Taiwanese TKK Fried Chicken chain will open their first US location in NYC.
The chain has 66 locations in Taiwan alone, and another two in Shanghai, China. This new NYC space will be located in Gramercy at 115 East 23 Street, the international company will open in collaboration with the bubble tea shop Kung Fu Tea.
Kung Fu Tea already has various locations around the city, so this seems like a perfect way for the fried chicken chain to segue into the US market. As Kung Fu Tea’s partnership announcement explains:
“TKK International Inc. is a famous and successful QSR (quick service restaurant) brand with over 40 years of experience specializing in the fried chicken menu. Through embracing authenticity in flavors and textures, TKK has demonstrated its exceptional value as a fried chicken brand, as well as its potential significance among its future US consumers.”
Menu items will include combos where you can choose from original, crispy mild, or crispy spicy chicken that come with various side dishes and a biscuit. Single items will include TKK wings, TKK tenders, cheese curds, TKK chicken sandwich, biscuits, and salads with side dish options of curly fries, shishito peppers, Cole slaw, and mashed potato with beef gravy. Kung Fu Tea’s delicious bubble teas will also be available, as will Blue Moon and Brooklyn Lager draft beers!
The restaurant will open on Friday, November 30, and according to a report by Eater, the shop will offer a free drink for the first three days to anyone who buys a combo meal and the first 50 people on Saturday will get “free combo meals once a month for a year.”
