Though the average New Yorker would choose to avoid Times Square at all costs, the neighborhood is definitely good for being home to some out-of-the-box-thinking destinations. And Pink Taco is adding itself to the roster–a Vegas-originated spot where you can get, you guessed it, pink tacos!
Pink Taco, serving up “tacos with attitude since ’99,” recently opened in Times Square–a neighborhood whose energy they feel matches their rock music-fueled vibe. And here, they’re not playing it safe.
The food joint’s moniker comes from its signature entrée that features bright pink shells.
But pink tacos aren’t the only pretty-in-pink items you’ll find on the menu–nachos and queso bean dip sport pink taco cheese sauce, their taquitos are rolled in pink corn tortillas, and their “hangover brunch” menu features pink churro pancakes!
They even have a cocktail aptly named Something Pink, which features El Jimador tequila, prickly pear puree, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. And there are many more margs where that came from, thanks to their tequila saturated-menu.
There’s even an Espresso Tequila Martini made with El Jimador tequila, caffe espresso liqueur, and Disaronno Velvet–cue the mouth watering!
As for the idea behind the business, it was born of local culture and raised on rock and roll. Their aim is for guests to have the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who share their appetite for extravagance, and it’s their way of expressing their pursuit of passions in an over-the-top, whimsical way.
Though they’re about wayyy more than just the food–it’s a literal party!
A rotation of DJs keep the party going throughout the week and late into the night (rocking until a nightly 2 a.m. last call) and neon pink signs, murals showcasing various traditional Mexican themes such as Día de los Muertos, and a skull-shaped disco ball put you in the party mood immediately when walking through the doors.
A second bar awaits guests upstairs, complete with high-top and cocktail seating and a private dining room.
So, if pink tacos and dirty debauchery is your thing, Pink Taco is the place to go. After all, according to their website, it’s not “just another taco joint—it’s sacred ground.”
Pink Taco’s new Times Square outpost is confined within a bi-level, 10,519-square-foot restaurant at 7 Times Square.
They’re open daily 8 a.m. – 2 a.m. and serve a daily brunch from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. They also offer a happy hour menu Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
