10 Absolutely Gorgeous Photos Of This Week’s ‘Reverse’ Manhattanhenge In NYC

Need a little something to brighten up your winter?

Well it’s time for Manhattanhenge! Well, really “reversehenge,” “sunrise Manhattanhenge,” or “winter Manhattanhenge.” You probably know about the famous Manhattanhenge phenomenon, when the sun is perfectly aligned between NYC streets, and that it normally takes place in the spring during sunset.

But, a similar effect also takes place in the winter, and the first one of 2021 just happened this week!

According to Jackie Faherty, an astrophysicist at the American Museum of Natural History, the main winter Manhattanhenge sunrise was Sunday, January 10…but the sun will still align with the Manhattan grid throughout this week (though it will be just before sunrise instead of during sunrise).

Here are some of the most beautiful shots captured over the past few days, and if you take any later this week, be sure to tag us on Instagram @secret_nyc!
