History was made this weekend as two first-ever parades marched through NYC streets, coinciding with AAPI Heritage Month.
NYC’s Asian American & Pacific Islander Parade marched through Midtown on Sunday, May 15th. The event was hosted by Better Chinatown USA, the same organization responsible for the Lunar New Year Parade. Dance and music filled the streets as NYC honored the rich cultural history of generations of New Yorkers who are from the Asian and Pacific diaspora.

The AAPI Parade followed after Saturday’s first-ever Japan Parade that strode alongside Central Park. The parade had been two years in the making and served as NYC’s introduction to Japanese culture. Parade goers got see awe-inspiring dances, traditional Japanese sword fighting, and more!
