It’s officially the end of an era in Greenpoint.
Beloved dive bar Pencil Factory is closing its doors on July 27th, 2025 due to its landlord opting not to renew the lease.
First reported by Greenpointers last Friday and then later confirmed shortly after on Instagram, the bar is saddened and encourages local Brooklynites to “Make these last four months count!”
Check out their statement online below:
After 25 incredible years, we’re saddened to announce that Pencil Factory will be closing its doors on Sunday, July 27th, as our landlord has decided not to renew our lease.
We’re deeply grateful for the community that has supported us since our opening in 2001.
In the coming months, we’ll host a series of events celebrating our bar, community, and staff. Until our final day, we’ll remain open daily until 4am, with our signature programming and weekend vibe you’ve all come to know and love.
Let’s make these last four months count!
Thank you for your love and support.Brian, Louise, and Sean
