This opening has been anticipated by many since they store owners were forced to close their SoHo location after rent increased to an exorbitant amount. Currently, there is only one location open (their flagship) at 395 Broadway in the Tribeca area.

The new Chelsea Market shop is 3,500-square-feet and, according to an initial report by the Wall Street Journal, Pearl River Mart has signed a 12-year lease for that space.
